Maribel Perez is mourning the loss of Alejandro Portillo, who died Sunday, March 10 in the Baileys Crossroads accident.

Portillo was heading east on Leesburg Pike in the left through-lane when he collided with an Acura heading west, trying to turn onto Glen Carlyn Drive around 110:10 p.m., authorities said at the time.

He was hospitalized where he was pronounced dead. The driver of the Acura remained on scene and was uninjured.

"Please help me with expenses to help send my son home with our Almighty father, Alejandro was known and loved by many," Perez writes on a GoFundMe campaign. "He was a son , he was very sweet and giving to all , now it is time to show him the love in return to send him home properly and peacefully."
